What does Barracuda Email Protection include?
Email Protection is a suite: Email Gateway Defense (filtering at the MX level), Impersonation Protection and Sentinel (AI against BEC and account takeover), Phishing & Impersonation Defense (inside M365 / Google), Incident Response, Security Awareness Training and Cloud-to-Cloud Backup. It connects via MX or API to Microsoft 365 / Google Workspace.
How is CloudGen Firewall different from an ordinary NGFW?
CloudGen Firewall is an NGFW and SD-WAN in one device, designed from the start for distributed offices and clouds. It deploys natively in AWS, Azure, GCP and Hyper-V. It has one management console and uses Application Profiles instead of classic port/protocol rules.
Does Barracuda offer a WAF and API protection?
Yes, Barracuda Application Protection (formerly CloudGen WAF / WAF-as-a-Service): protection against the OWASP Top 10, Bot Defense, API Protection (positive security from OpenAPI schemas), L7 DDoS and Account Takeover Prevention. It comes as a hardware appliance, a virtual machine or SaaS.
Why do you need Cloud-to-Cloud Backup for Microsoft 365?
Microsoft 365 protects its own infrastructure but does not back up your data following the “3-2-1” rule. Cloud-to-Cloud Backup stores Exchange Online, OneDrive, SharePoint and Teams in the Barracuda cloud. You can restore to a point in time or restore a single email, file or document.
What is Barracuda Managed XDR?
Managed XDR is a 24/7 SOC service from Barracuda. A team of analysts monitors your Barracuda devices, EDR (CrowdStrike, Microsoft Defender, SentinelOne), identity and clouds. They investigate incidents, escalate confirmed attacks and respond to them. It is an alternative to hiring your own SOC team.
Can we use only some of the Barracuda products?
Yes, products are licensed separately. Customers often start with Email Protection (fast results), then add CloudGen Firewall, then WAF/Backup. The more product families you buy, the bigger the discount.
