What does “S3-compatible” storage mean?

Cloudian HyperStore supports the Amazon S3 API natively. This means applications and tools written for S3 work with local storage without changes, but the data stays in your data center.

How does Cloudian protect against ransomware?

With S3 Object Lock, a WORM mode in which objects cannot be changed or deleted for a set period. Backups on Cloudian stay intact even if your systems are compromised.

Can it be combined with the public cloud?

Yes. In hybrid mode, Cloudian moves “cold” (rarely used) data to AWS, Azure or GCP. Applications still see a single S3 namespace.
